Let it go...
It's not easy to break up with someone you really care
about, especially if you know that it's going to hurt
them. But, you've done it and you're strangely
releived. Finally, as far as you're concerned, it's
over. However, you soon discover, the ex just won't
let it go. He keeps calling, "just to check in"
and he writes you e-mails in which he pathetically explains
that he missed your "friendship" and only wants
to make sure you're okay. As you know, it's a load
of crap. But, you feel bad and just can't seem to bring
yourself to tell him what you really want to: "Just
leave me the hell alone, Dude!" or "Didn't
I tell you that it's over?!" So, you don't
go to the same hang-outs because you know he'll be there.
You avoid your cell phone and change your IM name. You make
sure he doesn't know you're with someone else...
For all of that, you may have just as well stayed with him
and been miserable! Just be honest with him. Trust me, it
will really hurt him to hear it. But, he will get over you
much sooner. For the relationship you had, don't you
think he deserves the truth? Don't you deserve the
freedom?
