I Need
I Need
Not more trees.
Not more flowers in the yard,
or rain casscading on the roof.
I need the comfort
of a friendly smile.
Sometimes found in magazines
or just made up in my mind.
You know the ones that I mean
They shout out at you like the new blossoms
of a tree in the Spring.
I have been alienated by smiles from a distance.
You know, the way the music on the radio
attacks you from across the room,
or the way you are invaded
by the sounds in an elevator.
Now is the time for closeness once more.
Turn to me gently.
Hold me for the women that I am.
Wipe the tears from my eyes
And love me-Please.
Because I need.
All the other Girls play
in the shadows of my life
and I am detached.
But that is as it should be,
for I need more than games.
Take a chance on me.
I haven't any name
but the ones you will give me when you leave.
You see I need,
I need you.
